What I´m super curious to find out is how well excess mortality in the US aligns with covid mortality (excess mortality can be a simple seasonal adjusted forecast using excel slope/intercept functions - nothing fancy needed). In Brazil it aligns almost perfectly. If it does NOT align in the US, especially if it varies depending on the state, THEN SOMETHING REALLY STRANGE IS GOING ON IN PUBLIC HEALTH. Either Brazilian public health is really excellent at pinning down and identifying covid-19 cases and the US is not, or Brazilian public health is NOT CAPABLE of pinning down and identifying covid-19 cases. In which case we might ask ask ourselves, WHY NOT? Maybe, just maybe, the reason is that THE DAMNED THING DOESN'T REALLY EXIST?
